I just got to my lab at St John's island.
One of my students emailed me at 11.50pm last night asking me
for a consultation at 10am today.
I replied to him:
I need to be at an offshore lab today. I can see you on
either Tuesday or Thursday instead.
Please take note:
1. Please don't shoot me a last minute email literally at
the 11th hour the night before you want a consultation the
following morning.
2. I have a proper name; please don't address me as 'tutor'.
Not trying to sound arrogant, but you need to display a certain
etiquette when addressing tutors and lecturers who teach you in
this university.
Am I being a little too harsh on the fella?
well, i have to say that unless it is an official title like
"Director", people should address others by either their name, or
Mr XX, Miss XX, Mdm XX or just Sir or Mdm... else it would be...
kinda.. not right...
which is why "Dear Valued Customer" rings hollow to me... if i
was such a valued customer, could you not even address me by my
name? or if you want to spam through snail mail, at least
"Dear Sir"... in fact, "Dear Sir/Madam" is also idiotic to me..
trying to cover all bases and missing them all..
